What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that visited websites can save in the user's browser. Similar technologies — localStorage and sessionStorage — allow the website to store information in the browser for the session or persistently. The applicable regulations (ePrivacy Directive and the Italian Data Protection Authority guidelines of June 10, 2021) treat all of these technologies under the same legal framework.

Cookies used

This website does not install its own HTTP cookies. Third-party services loaded by the site (Cloudflare Turnstile, the conversational assistant and Google Fonts) may, in specific cases, set technical cookies strictly necessary to their operation. No profiling, marketing or advertising-analytics cookies are used.

Local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage)

The website uses two local storage entries, both strictly necessary to operation and therefore exempt from consent under the Italian Data Protection Authority guidelines: "aton-theme" (localStorage), which stores the user's light/dark theme preference; "aton-bot-jwt" (sessionStorage), a technical token generated after the Turnstile anti-bot verification, valid up to eight hours, used to avoid repeating the verification within the same session. Both entries are readable only by the website itself and are not transmitted to third parties.

Third-party services that may set technical storage

Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc., USA): anti-bot verification loaded from challenges.cloudflare.com. May set technical local storage strictly necessary to the verification. More information: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. ATON conversational assistant (ai-platform.aton-tech.it): loaded from the domain operated by ATON TECH s.r.l., may use technical local storage for the chat session. Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited): used to load website fonts; the request may transmit the IP address to Google.

How to manage or disable cookies and local storage

Users may at any time block or delete cookies and local storage through their browser settings. Please note that disabling local storage may prevent the theme preference from being saved and may require repeating the anti-bot verification each time the conversational assistant is opened.
